Concept Gatekeepers derives from the rebuilding of the walls of Jerusalem in the days of Nehemiah. The gatekeepers were the traders, lawmakers, financiers, news dispensers and defenders of the city. The Gates were also the morale centres of the city. Gatekeepers in Bible times had a vocational calling separate from those who attended the temple, yet indispensable to the temple’s functioning and safety.
Many business people today feel that their work is not ‘spiritual’ unless they are leading a home-group or a prayer-meeting. Ask them what their ‘ministry’ is and they will reply with, “Door steward”, “home-group leader”, “music-team member”, “deacon”, etc. They do not usually reply by saying “Lawyer”, “carpenter”, “scientist”, “home-maker”, “soldier”, et al.
Concept Gatekeepers stirs people to see their vocation as a holy calling and to equip them to function in the dynamics and ethics of the Kingdom of God. Concept Gatekeepers seeks, through seminars, special interest tours, conferences, publications, networks and alliances, to ‘rebuild the gates’ and help people recover influence in areas of national and community life that have been surrendered to the secular State.
