Douglas was born in India, spent his early years in China, was educated in NZ and lived and worked in New Zealand and Australia. He is married to Bronwen and they have four married children and six grandchildren who live in Australia and USA. For many years he served as a minister in different denominations. His spare-time interests include music, teaching, reading, the Goons, and bee keeping.
